
Increasing Brand Awareness of an L.A.-Based, Eco-Friendly Interior Design Company
As the effects of climate change continue to impact Americans’ everyday lives, Eco Method Interiors aims to disrupt an often wasteful interior design industry to create inspiring spaces grounded in holistic values through transformational interior design and help people love where they live and work.
The Goal:
To increase awareness of Eco Method Interiors to those looking for interior design solutions for their homes, investment properties, or workplaces.
The Strategy
When deciding which mediums to focus on, my client and I determined that inviting an interior designer inside your home or personal property requires a lot of trust. It made sense most of EMI’s business so far had come from referrals. Interior design is also very visual. Based on these two factors, we decided to focus our strategy on Instagram (to highlight EMI’s past work) and PR (so that people could get to know EMI’s Principal Designer through articles and podcasts.) We also decided to improve EMI’s Google search rankings.

Social Media Engagement
I helped generate awareness of Eco Method Interiors’ specialties in short-term rental and workplace design by launching 2 different social media giveaways on Instagram and Facebook. I generated awareness of the giveaways by placing advertisements on Instagram and posting organic conversation-starters in relevant Facebook groups.
I also increased EMI’s Instagram following by 55%. I accomplished this by targeting and engaging with Instagram users based on other pages they followed and hashtags they used.

Public Relations Campaign
I redesigned EMI’s one-sheet and researched design psychology and the effects of design on hotel guests using Google Scholar. Then, I pitched Eco Method Interiors’ portfolio and her unique knowledge of design psychology to hundreds of national publications, podcasts, and blogs. By highlighting how EMI’s specialty info could benefit outlets’ audiences and following up with media contacts, I secured a feature in Inhabitat, a spot on the L.A. Architects’ list of Best Interior Designers in Los Angeles, and episodes on How To Talk To Girls, Wingnut Social, BNB Boss, and Live Let Thrive.

Improve SEO Ranking
Through keyword research using Google Trends and SEMRush, I determined the best keywords for Eco Method Interiors to try to rank for. I then planted these keywords on EMI’s website pages and wrote blog posts on various subjects pertaining to EMI’s target audience including short-term rental design, bachelor pad design, and sustainable holiday decorating. EMI ranked consistently for keywords eco interior design portfolio and eco interior designer.
